The speed & distance mode uses the same accelerometer (marble in a bowl) technology that is used in the Accelerator Series watches to measure speed and distance functions. The heart rate monitor employs a conventional chest strap, using 5.3 Khz transmission frequency, to record a user's heart beats per minute. If you can use an Accelerator watch, you can use the Pulse. It is a logical and simple addition of a HRM. Watch navigation and features are nearly identical to the regular Accelerators.
