I love PBS TV, mainly because it has such quality shows
like Antique Roadshow, to which I am listening to while
on *Answers*. Yeah, I know how to "multi-task"!
Anyway, the show is in Las Vegas and some woman
brought in this diamond ring, didn't have any idea
how much it was worth. The ring was worth between
$165,000 to $175,000!!!!!!!!
And the lady was so shocked, she played it really cool,
she said, "oh, really?" I love Antiques Roadshow for
the surprises and neat information on aniques.
How about you? Do you watch it? Any favorite recollections
of memorable appraisals?

Hey there!
My boyfriend and I have been together for about 3 and a half years now and we are seriously considering marriage... In fact, it seems like it's kind of a game to see who will ask who first (but I think it'll wind up being me asking him.) Anyway, I wanted to get a little token to present him... kind of the equivalent of a woman's engagement ring, if you will, but I'm not sure. I am considering an antique pocket watch engraved with his initials (He's a history major and is really into antique/ old... stuff) or something like that. Obviously not a diamond ring, but I've heard of men's engagement rings... although I think that's kinda tacky. Any suggestions/ ideas on a nice, thoughtful gift I could get him that would represent our betrothal?
Much appreciated! Thanks!

I got married and came home from my honeymoon and when I was unpacking I noticed that my car keys were missing along with diamond ring my grandmother gave me . I asked my husband to look through all his things to see if they were missing and he was missing a rolex and 2 other antique watches. so we called the police and reported it. meanwhile we are going through a nasty custody battle and a friend of my hubby's said that his ex had pictures of the inside of our home. so we have reason to believe she broke in we filed the report a week and a half ago and an investigator still hasn't come to investigate like they said he would. what is the next step for us to take and if convicted ( we are thinking she may bring the pictures to court {custody} because I had a lot of wedding and bridal shower gifts laying around she called dCPS claiming our home was "dirty" and the lady said the whole report was rediclous and wouldn't be carried out) what consequences can be rendered for breaking&enter

A jeweler can appraise it on the spot in front of you. There's no reason to send it off.

Does an antique pocket watch look stupid with today's fashions?
Pocket watches are such a popular collectible these days. Both men and women buy them and love to wear them. But how does a modern man or woman wear a pocket watch so it does not look out of place with modern clothing?
I found this excellent article on how to wear a pocket watch, adn thought it would be of interest to you. Here is is in full:

I have one that is 14ky/w gold with .42ctw in round & baguette diamonds (28 diamonds total). The band is 14ky mesh & case is 14kw. I'm having the hardest time finding a price range on such a watch. Thank you.
